Waves of Hope
Location: El Manzano Uno (Outside of León)
Mission:
Waves of hope is a nonprofit organization created in part by the resort owners of El Coco Loco who had a vision of living in the community they built within while also contributing to it with community engagement and investment. Surfers, travelers and tourists alike who stay at the hotel also have the opportunity to help the community by working within their three objectives: Education, Health or Infrastructure. They provide the opportunity for interns to live in home stays within the community and put together projects that benefit the population. By donation, they were able to invest in a local bus so that students are able to go to school (without the bus, some have to wake up at 3:30am).
